Introduction to linocut printing workshop

Learn how to design, carve and print your own unique linocut print.

 

What you will learn

• Understand vocabulary and techniques of printmaking.

• Develop a clear understanding of planning and creating a successful print. 

• Hand-burnish a one-colour print using Softcut lino and oil-based inks.  

• Take home a print that you can frame.

During the morning, you learn about materials and tools, cut and print a test print and then plan your
final design. In the afternoon, you cut and print your chosen design.

Previous experience

Suitable for beginners. Please let me know your previous art and/or printmaking experience so I can tailor the workshop to suit you.

Location

Workshops will be held in my light, hopefully sunny, garden studio in Holgate, York. 

Free on-street parking. Bikes can be stored securely in my carport.

Duration

10am – 4pm. Half an hour for lunch.

​

Workshop cost

£100 per person, including materials, drinks and homemade cake. 

​

Workshop size

A maximum of four students in each workshop, so you get lots of one-to-one teaching.

 

Refreshments 

Tea, herbal teas and coffee. We’ll have tea and cake together to round off the day. Please bring a packed lunch.​

Materials and equipment

Lino cutting equipment will be provided for each student to use on the day. A reasonable amount of paper and ink will also be provided.​

Cancellations

If you need to cancel your place on a course, please get in touch.​

• Cancellations up to one month's notice: You will be offered a place on one of my other workshops or a refund of 50% of the workshop fee. ​

• Cancellations with less than one month's notice: Unfortunately, I am unable to offer refunds if the period of notice given is less than one month. ​

• If your workshop is cancelled due to rare unforeseen circumstances, I will work with you to rearrange a mutually suitable alternative date. If this isn’t suitable, a full refund will be given.

Private workshops

Available for a group of 4 friends or family. A one-day workshop for up to 4 adults is £400. This includes materials, drinks and homemade cake. Please contact me for available dates for private linocut and bespoke workshop bookings.
