An original harebells linocut print, hand-printed in denim blue and carefully finished with hand-painted detail.

Harebells are native British wildflowers, often found growing in dry, nutrient-poor grasslands and open heaths. Their slender stems and nodding blue bells are a summer delight, flowering from June to October. Also known as the Scottish bluebell, it has pale to mid violet-blue petals that form delicate bell-shaped flowers that seem to move with the slightest breeze.

Each print is made by hand in my Yorkshire studio, capturing the beauty of this much-loved British wildflower.

How it’s Made

Each print is individually hand-printed in my York studio using denim blue oil-based ink. The harebell flowers and leaves are then carefully hand-coloured in layered shades of blue and green, giving each piece its own subtle variations and character.

Proudly handmade in Yorkshire. Artist Michelle Hughes retains all copyright.
