Inspiration
The inspiration for this print came from a walk from Ingleton up to the summit of Ingleborough in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The design features the footpath winding past Crina Bottom Farm and climbing towards the distinctive peak of Ingleborough.
I was drawn to the textures and patterns of the millstone grit rock, which gives the mountain its unique character. After the steep climb to the summit, I was rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views across the surrounding landscape, including Whernside, Pen-y-ghent and, on a clear day, the distant waters of Morecambe Bay.
This linocut print celebrates the dramatic scenery found in the Yorkshire Dales, a perfect piece of artwork for walkers, hikers and anyone who loves the beauty of the British countryside.
How it's Made
This Ingleborough print is created using a traditional multi-block linocut technique. Depending on the colourway, three or four individually hand-carved lino blocks are carefully aligned and hand-printed in my York studio using professional-quality oil-based inks.
