Inspiration
This print was inspired by a walk from Kettlewell to Arncliffe through the stunning landscapes of the Yorkshire Dales. The view looks across Wharfedale towards the village of Starbotton, with the River Wharfe winding along the valley bottom.
The route follows part of the Dales Way, a long-distance walking trail that passes through some of the most beautiful scenery in the Yorkshire Dales. I wanted to capture the sense of space, the sweeping valley views, and the timeless character of this much-loved Yorkshire landscape.
How it's Made
This Littondale print is created using a traditional multi-block linocut technique. Depending on the colourway, three or four individually hand-carved lino blocks are carefully aligned and hand-printed in my York studio using professional-quality oil-based inks.
