Bring the beauty of Swaledale into your home with this hand-printed linocut of Muker Meadows, inspired by walks through the Yorkshire Dales' most loved hay meadows.
The Muker Meadows linocut features a traditional stone field barn and many of the colourful wildflowers that make these hay meadows so special: meadow buttercup, pignut, red clover, bistort and hay meadow grasses such as crested dog’s-tail.
Inspiration
This piece was inspired by many walks from Muker village, following the footpath through the meadows and along the River Swale to Keld. The best time to see Muker’s hay meadows is from late May to early July, when the fields are alive with colour and buzzing with insects and bees.
How it’s Made
Printed by hand in Yorkshire using traditional linocut techniques, this artwork is created using the multi-block process and four hand-carved lino blocks, one for each colour. Each colour is individually printed with oil-based ink on soft white, acid-free paper, with several days of drying between layers. The flowers in each print are individually hand-coloured using watercolours, meaning each original print is unique.

How to Take Care of Your Original Print
This original print is created using professional, high-quality oil-based inks and watercolours, along with acid-free paper and mounts. While the inks and watercolours have excellent lightfastness, I recommend hanging your print out of direct sunlight. Read more on my FAQs page.
