A perfect gift for hikers and mountain lovers, this original print captures the Newland valley in Cumbria. A thoughtful gift for walkers and Lake District lovers.
Inspiration
The linocut print is inspired by a photo I took of a view I loved while walking in the Newlands Valley. It was a circular walk, starting from Little Town, walking along the valley floor alongside Newlands Beck, and then up to Dale Head. If you’ve not been, it’s a hidden gem. It’s so incredibly peaceful. The valley is on the other side of the Cat Bells from Derwent Water. See photos in my Keswick and Newland Valley walking blog.
How it’s Made
Printed by hand in Yorkshire using traditional linocut techniques, this artwork is made using the multi-block process and three hand-carved lino blocks — one for each colour. Each colour is individually printed with oil-based ink on soft white, acid-free paper, with several days of drying between layers. See a short video showing how I made Newlands Valley on YouTube.
