An original hand-printed linocut of Striding Edge and Helvellyn in the Lake District National Park. One of Britain's most iconic mountain ridges, Striding Edge is loved by fell walkers for its dramatic scenery and unforgettable views.
Inspiration
This print was inspired by a week of walking and camping beside Ullswater in the Lake District. As I continue to build my confidence walking in the fells on my own, I spent time sitting beside Red Tarn, watching tiny figures carefully make their way along the famous ridge of Striding Edge. At the time, it felt completely beyond my comfort zone.
Although it wasn't part of my original plan, I eventually found the confidence to climb Swirral Edge instead. Reaching the summit of Helvellyn became one of the most rewarding walks I've ever completed. The encouragement of fellow walkers I met along the way played a huge part in making it happen. Thank you to everyone I chatted with and who spurred me on that day!
How it’s made
This Striding Edge print is created using a traditional multi-block linocut technique. Four individually hand-carved lino blocks are carefully aligned and hand-printed in my York studio using high-quality oil-based inks.
Available with and without hand-painted hikers. As the hikers are hand-painted, they will vary from the image.

Hand-printed onto 200 gsm soft white, acid-free paper.

Mounted Original Linocut Print: Supplied unframed, mounted in a soft white, acid-free mount with a protective backing board, and wrapped in cellophane for protection.
